With the guidance and support of local fused glass artist Susan Miller from Passionate Glass, PBTC volunteers have created these pretty handmade ornaments. Each ornament is ready to hang with a black ribbon, protected in a 4″x4″ gift box and includes a gift insert card. All proceeds will support the work of PBTC to protect bird habitat on local BTC Nature Reserves and promote education about the need to protect bird habitat and bird species at risk on the Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula. $30 per ornament, 4 maximum per customer. If an order is placed for more than 4, items above 4 will be refunded.
The Anishinaabemowin name for American Goldfinch is Aginjibagwesi, which comes from:
- “Aginji” from aginjigaade, meaning “it is counted”
- “Bag” (or buk) meaning “leaf”
This name roughly translates to “the one who counts the leaves” and is given to this bird because when it sings, it is said to be counting the leaves of the trees. The goldfinch is considered a spirit keeper of the language and a symbol of joy and renewal.
Delivery: After payment, a PBTC volunteer will contact you to arrange for delivery. Delivery can be arranged for these areas: Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula, Owen Sound, Southampton, Port Elgin, London, Guelph, and Kitchener/Waterloo. Cost of deliveries requiring delivery by mail will be the responsibility of the customer.
